Newsworthy???

So as I like to look at all of the headlines on the the various websites I wonder what these different sites determine as newsworthy. I look at www.comcast.net and see the top headlines, the third headline is "Bachelor Jason is getting married." Why is this in the top headlines? Why is this even near the top headlines? Why is bachelor Jason near a headline about a woman in West Virgina lying about torture and a Massachussetts man being held in an attack plot. I am really confused, was there nothing else to report on? There was nothing else that was more newsworthy than Bachelor Jason? Sometimes i just don't understand. Maybe it is a plot by comcast to push the Bachelor series. Well like I say, it always comes to money and who is paying for what.

    You can't help but gasp at some headlines this days. He probably has a lot of fans, I do not even know who that is....never been a fan of reality shows.

    Money is definitely the bottom line as far as determining which stories are newsworthy. It is pretty sad, though, that Comcast could not find ANYTHING else to put in the top headlines. But as we have seen time and time again, entertainment is what sells and companies will do what it takes to increase that bottom line.

    OMG! Who is he marrying?! Just kidding. It could be about money but it could also be that more people want to see that "news" than real news. It would be interesting to look at how many people have viewed that story over the important ones. Pop culture is our master and we are its slaves.

    Looking around KSU the past couple weeks I have noticed that bake sales are alive and well. In fact, did you know that Atlanta's candiate for mayor Mary Norwood used them to raise money? Like you said it is another imaginary war mcuh like that on drugs. Beck is the sterotypical drama queen and in many way reminds me of Jim Kramer, the mad money guy. He is always screaming and overdramatizes everything. The reason why this is so popular becuase it is just a reinforcement of thier beliefs, its what they want to see.

    I completely agree that this is ridiculous!!! I mean really, there are people dying and hungry and all they care about is someone getting married! I mean give me a break! That is just completely crazy! I dont understand at all. but you are right it is who is paying for them and what they want to see and hear. And that kind of news does get ratings and that is all businesses care about these days is ratings.
